The St. Martin factory steam plant includes three 1,500-hp. boilers, two of which are equipped with incline pinhole grates for burning bagasse. The third 1,500-hp. boiler is equipped with a Detroit Stoker. There is one 1,300-hp. boiler with incline pinhole grates, and two 800-hp. boilers equipped with horseshoe-type furnaces to burn bagasse.
All these boilers are equipped with induced-draft fans and fly ash removal systems connected to individual scrubbers, and have air pre-heaters. The boilers are equipped to burn natural gas. For removing ashes from the boiler room, screw conveyors under the floor feed slat conveyors moving the ash to a gathering tank.
